IIAT is the premier association for Independent Insurance Agents in Texas. We are proud to call ourselves members of this strong statewide association.Independent Insurance Agents of Texas is:
A nonprofit organization of 1,700 independent property and casualty insurance agency members and 250 associate members from insurance companies, MGAs and other vendors of agency products

- All student materials in Independent Insurance Agents of Texas classes are written by IIAT's credentialed professionals to meet the specific needs of IIAT members
- All classroom instructors are professional educators recruited and trained by IIAT
- Independent Insurance Agents of Texas has the nation's largest state association program for participants in the Accredited Customer Service Representative designation program

- Independent Insurance Agents of Texas is a leader in the Texas insurance industry in providing to legislators and other policymakers accurate, timely and well-grounded analysis of insurance issues
- Independent Insurance Agents of Texas's political action program has been acknowledged for its success in helping elect Texas Supreme Court justices with balanced perspectives on liability issues

- IIAT's Personal Lines Connection has helped more than 100 small agencies by replacing lost markets for personal auto and homeowners
- Since 1989, IIAT has filled market gaps caused by market constrictions in such lines as personal umbrella, small workers' compensation and farm and ranch coverages

Types of insurance business our member agencies write:
- About 27.4 percent of the $16 billion in personal lines insurance premiums for such products as personal auto and homeowners policies -- about $4.4 billion
- About 80 percent of the $6.3 billion in commercial lines premiums for such products as multiperil commercial, commercial auto and workers' compensation -- about $5 billion
- Many of our larger agency members also offer life and health insurance

- Founded in 1898 as the Local Underwriters Association of Texas
- Expanded in 1993 through merger with the Professional Insurance Agents of Texas, which was created in 1943
