Life Insurance- Put it on your Wedding Planning To Do List

Getting married is a life altering event. Sharing in the responsibilities of a spouse is part of married life.  In the event of death, taking over those responsibilities is another part of becoming a married couple. Monetary obligations left behind, along with burial expenses, need to be discussed and prepared for in advance of a tragedy or natural old age.  If you already have life insurance, changing the beneficiary to your new spouse is important & should be done immediately after the wedding. Also, consider the financial picture of who you married- do you need to increase the life insurance limit for the additional debt or income that will be lost in the event of spouse's death? The goal of life insurance should be to provide for your spouse, allowing him or her to continue life with financial stability. A proper life insurance policy will help make sure the surviving partner is able to take care of short-term and long-term financial obligations. If neither party has life insurance, a new policy is a must-have.
